The Man Who Had It All
An American banker on vacation in a small Mexican village complimented a fisherman on his catch and asked why he didn’t stay out longer to catch more fish. The fisherman said he caught enough to feed his family and spent the rest of his day sleeping late, fishing a little, playing with his kids, taking siestas with his wife, and making music with his friends.
The banker told him he could make more money by buying bigger boats, building a fleet, starting a cannery, and eventually running a global seafood business. “How long will that take?” the fisherman asked. “Ten to twenty years,” the banker replied. “Then what?” The banker said he could retire rich and move to a small fishing village to sleep late, fish a little, take siestas, and make music with his amigos.
The fisherman smiled. He was already living the life the banker was chasing.
