Most coaches say the mental side matters.

It’s all reps, sets, and schemes.
Here’s a simple way to fix that this week:
1. Build Your Mental Plan
Have players list:
Common problems (mistakes, bad calls, pressure, teammates)
And their response to each one
2. Create a Pre-Practice Routine
Get them to an Ideal Psychological State (ISP) before reps even start:
Positive self-talk
Quick imagery (see success)
Breathing/arousal control
Clear goal for the session
3. Train Two Modes
Every player needs both:
Mastery Plan (when it’s going right):
“This is what it looks like at my best.”
Coping Plan (when it’s going wrong):
“This is how I respond when I struggle.”
4. Make It Real
Write it down
Rehearse it (imagery)
Use it in low-stress reps
Evaluate + adjust weekly
